This holiday season, Colony Square will deck the halls with its second annual Festivity + Trees, an artistic spectacle that will transform The Square and its Peachtree Street corridor into a whimsical winter wonderland with 45 hand painted trees. Over the next two weeks, 25 local artists will set up shop inside Colony Square and paint eight-foot-tall Christmas trees that will join the 20 hand painted trees from last year. The collection of trees will be officially unveiled at the Festivity + Trees Reveal Party on Dec. 1.
From Nov. 9 through Nov. 25, the artists will take over an empty retail space in The Atrium, near Colony Square’s Concierge Desk. The public is invited to visit the space and observe the artists as they transform their blank wooden tree canvases into holiday masterpieces. During Colony Square’s regular operating hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., the artists will be on-site working on their trees and the public is invited to stop by to catch the design process in motion. Festivity + Trees gives artists the freedom to create original works inspired by Colony Square’s theme: “The Art of Modern Life.”
“Colony Square is delighted to host the second annual Festivity + Trees and to give local Atlanta artists a chance to come together and make Midtown a vivid holiday destination,” said Sara Carville, marketing coordinator at Colony Square. “We love to create opportunities for unique, art-inspired experiences, and Festivity + Trees is the perfect way for us to kick off another magical holiday season at the heart of Midtown Atlanta.”
On Friday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m., Colony Square will host a Festivity + Trees Reveal Party for artists to officially unveil their works to the public. The big event will be held in The Plaza and include lite bites, festive libations, live holiday music, entertainers, performers and more. The 25 new trees will join the brilliant collection of 20 trees created last year. Together, the 45 trees will be on display along Peachtree Street from Dec. 1 through Dec. 27 for all of Midtown to enjoy.
In addition to Festivity + Trees, Colony Square has partnered with Children’s Hospital of Atlanta to host the second annual pre-parade Smiles for the Season Breakfast on Dec. 2 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in The Atrium. Guests of the event are invited to enjoy a buffet breakfast from Establishment, create magical Christmas crafts and meet special characters from the Center for Puppetry Arts. Bleacher tickets offering a prime viewing area on Peachtree Street along with a parking voucher for Colony Square will also be included in the breakfast. The Smiles for the Season Breakfast is open to the public and tickets can be purchased here.
Additionally, Colony Square will launch the inaugural “12 Days of Giving with The Square” campaign in which office tenants have kindly donated a special gift that will be awarded to lucky social media followers throughout the activation. A few of the tenants involved in the giveaway include Blank Label, WeWork, 5Church Atlanta, Midtown Alliance, and more to come.
